There is a Clear Form Tab in the BOM view but it doesn't clear out the BOM, it opens up a new blank Product Record. There is also a delete button but this deletes the entire record, and will not work if there are still items in the BOM. If there was a single click button to erase the BOM, the product could be marked as inactive and/or a bunch of products could be batch changed to inactive at the same time.
