Communication History - Automatic population of Follow up date when issuing Credit Control Letters

As part of credit control we issue several letters through our Sage program an 'Letter Before Action' being an example. When this letter is issued the customer typically has 7 days to pay. This letter is emailed and the communication history is updated but the follow up field currently must be manually populated - is there anyway this field can be automatically populated as part of updating the communication history?
